About Allison Eriksen

From Global to Local

Allison was an international disaster preparedness and response expert at USAID, until the second Trump administration took office in 2025. She worked in countries affected by flood, conflict, and drought to save lives and make communities more resilient before the next crisis struck. Now she wants to bring her skills home to help prepare Montgomery County for whatever it might face.

Values & Vision

Allison's career at USAID was based on listening to what communities need and finding ways to provide it, and that's how she proposes to operate in the Montgomery County Council. She listens, uses data to inform a strategy, and implements policies that benefit everyone. Here are a few of her priorities:

Preparing for Disaster

Allison will use her skills as a disaster responder to make sure that the residents of Montgomery County are prepared for the next disaster that hits - natural or not. She believes that community preparedness is critical to save lives and that this will be more important as the federal government becomes less likely to provide disaster response resources or recovery funds.

Creating Safe Streets

Safe streets are important for everyone, but particularly impact children and youth in our community. Maryland is in the top 10 states for pedestrian fatalities among youth ages 12-19 and in the last five years, drivers have hit 292 teens in Montgomery County. In addition, 60 cyclists have been involved in traffic crashes in Montgomery County so far this year. We need to promote safe driving practices, ensure equitable access to public transit, and create safe environments for pedestrians and cyclists.

Supporting Displaced Workers and Federal Workers

As a former federal worker herself, Allison understands the strain on current and recent federal workers in our community. Other displaced workers struggle with the same issues in accessing services and finding employment. She aims to work with the council to ensure that our county can continue to benefit from the talented individuals who work and live here. She wants to see that Montgomery County continues to be a desirable destination for employers and workers alike.

Keeping Communities Safe

One of the greatest things about this district is its embrace of diversity and its reputation as a safe community for all. Safety comes in many forms, and Allison will work to ensure that all of our neighbors are safe from violence, no matter their race, religion, immigration status, sexual orientation or gender identity, or any other aspect of their identity.
